The Wells Academy

Nusic Tour 2017

Nusic a social enterprise dedicated to musicians in Nottinghamshire visited Nottingham Academy Ransom Road on Monday 20th November.

Nusic has been supporting the Nottingham music scene since 2007, initially part of a campaign to get a Nottingham artist to Number 1 in the UK charts, the organisations main drive now is “to contribute to Nottingham being one of the most supportive places in the UK to be a musician. A place acknowledged nationally and internationally for its vibrant music scene.” Their main focus is on musicians 25 and under, they provide lots of resources to help musicians when they start out as well as a platform to get new music heard through promotion and the Nusic Podcast.

The Nusic tour is a highlight of the year for Nottingham Academy Music students, as well as a visit from Mark Dell Nusic’s founder, he was joined by singer-songwriter Nina Smith and spoken word artist Raphael Blake.  The tour has been regularly visiting the schools of Nottingham since 2009, providing advice and asking questions on how to progress in Nottingham’s vibrant music scene and beyond. Year 10 and 11 music students were invited to the event, many of these students have featured in recent Nottingham Academy events including the celebrating success evening. They found the talk extremely valuale in helping them plan their career in the music industry.

Mark provided lots of information for pupils all the information from the Nusic Tour can be found here: http://www.nusic.org.uk/wordpress/school-tour/

Nottingham Academy would like to thank Mark Dell, Raphael Blake and Nina Smith for what was a very memorable visit. There is an abundance of musical talent in the Nottingham scene and we have some very talented and ambitious young people who cannot wait to be part of it!
